Clinical Placement Background Checks

Effective Jan. 1, 2004, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) instituted new regulations. These regulations, such as; hospitals, home health agencies, clinics and other types of health agencies, must abide by these regulations in order to gain or maintain their accreditations.

One of the regulations requires these organizations to conduct a criminal background check on all employees, students and volunteers involved in patient care.

The JCAHO recommends the following background check searches:
Social Security Number Trace (AIM) On-Site County & State Criminal Records in all jurisdictions the applicant has lived over the past 7 years. Criminal Records in all Federal jurisdictions the applicant has lived over the past 7 years. Combined Office of Inspector General (OIG) and Government Service Administration (GSA) searches. National Sex Offender Registry Database

Hospital Corporation of American (HCA) hospitals may require additional services, such as:

Healthcare Sanctions Registry

Patriot Act Name Search
